Aquatic Language (2002)

A lo-fi melding of 2D and 3D tackling the ambiguity of communication in a crowded coffee shop. Unfortunately, it doesn't run long enough for its milieu approach to add up to more than the sum of its parts, but it's short and doesn't waste time, so you might as well watch it if the premise interests you.
