Blank Verse

Blank verse is text that uses poetic meter, but not rhyme. It's between free verse and fully-formal poetry.

   Cellular automata
   Curdle in their long-forgotten servers
   Growing violently strange,
   Binaries all ruptured and dissolving,
   Creatures yearning to be free
   If the inescapable eternal
   Rotting programme one day dies.

2. 2025-09-07

   The faceless sexton speaks: “Behold:
   Our proud remembered dead!”
   Their names and dates are long-effaced,
   But all the cruciforms remain.

   Also thought about using “cross-shaped holes” instead of “cruciforms”.

3. 2025-09-05

   To coo at the foxes
   Who savage the pigeons;
   To laugh at the pigeons
   Who swallow the insects…

4. 2025-04-14

   Star magnolias turn skyward
   Petrichor perfumes the nightcat.

5. 2025-04-14

   She fills the sky with grief 
   And it's not big enough.

6. 2024-11-14

   The end is nigh again.
   New fish will walk the earth.
