Duel (1971)

Perfect 20th-century cowboy mecha gender horror film. This little dweeb goes into the frontier and gets picked on by the big manly truck that pulls his pants down in front of everyone around. It's basically just a series of situations where our increasingly-frazzled everyman protagonist bumbles his way through attempts to explain what the fuck is happening to him only to fail and flee as TRUCK comes back to emasculate him again. So tangibly rooted in its TV movie origins and so much better for it—incredible allegorical purity and economy of tension. The ending's so good, too, the child-monkey glee of victory followed by existential melancholy. What was all the violence for?
